In the spring of 2005 we became aware of the needs of the Hambal Congregation.
The people of Hambal are struggling with severe drought and food shortages, so there is little money available for buying church building materials.
In the Hambal congregation's pictures that follow, we saw in their faces the face of Christ.

Hambal had been working on their New Church Building for about 10 years.
It's not unusual for a congregation to take 10 or more years to build a new church.
They just do it one layer of bricks at a time as they can afford to do so.
In June 2005, we had $2000 in our Mission Partner tithe fund and also invited the congregation of Grace Lutheran to contribute as they felt called. Their generosity was overwhelming.
Grace Lutheran Church sent the Hambal Parish our first gift of $3700.
With that gift, Hambal added a fine steel roof to their new church building and it is echoing with the sounds of their voices raised in praise of the living God.
In August 2006, Grace again combined their Mission Partner tithe fund with gifts from the congregation and sent Hambal another gift of $2493.10 to help them come even closer to completing their new place of worship.
