Beatrice began her first semester at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical College (KCMC) in September, 2008.

She was the top student in her class at Kifungilo Secondary School and she scored Division 1, the highest rating possible, on her national exams. The cost at KCMC for Beatrice's Doctor of Medicine degree, a five-year program, are just over $6,000 a year.

Beatrice writes, "I would like to become a doctor to serve the people of Tanzania since there is a great shortage of doctors which results in high death rates of patients per year. There are not many people in this sector (profession) because of the high costs involved in training of medical personnel and very few Tanzanians can afford this. Nowadays, many Tanzanians are dying because there are not enough hospitals, dispensaries and other facilities which provide health services. … "My dream is to make Tanzania a better place for each and every person in regard to medical care. For everyone to get good and better health services at all times and for everybody to get all the treatment he or she needs in the country."

We are contributing to Beatrice's Medical School through GodParents for Tanzania which provides scholarships to students in the Kilimanjaro and Karatu regions of Tanzania.
